A major parameter affecting reflected echo size for rotating conventional radar is the power striking a target. The incident power is given by the number of pulses striking the contact multiplied by the power in every pulse.

The number of pulses striking a contact is given by the time the contact is illuminated by radar multiplied by the PRF:
